The Shaw Nature Reserve is in Gray Summit Missouri just off I-44 across Highway 100 from where the old Diamonds Restaurant was located, around 20 miles outside of St. Louis.
We went walking there on a Sunday afternoon in February when the temperature was above 50F on a partly sunny day. There are so many things to see on this 1600 acre property that you cannot see it all in one afternoon.
This is not a public park. There is a $5 enter fee for adults or you can become a member of the Missouri Botanical society and enter on your membership. The area is well maintained and not as crowded as you would get in a public park near a major city.
As you will see in the video, there was a controlled burn on some of the wild grasses on the property. It is still winter in this area, but you can feel the area is ready for the re-growth of Spring. By this time next month the early plants like daffodils and tulips should be up. By April many other plants will be up and we may be out with more photos and videos.
